It was in Tiros, a small town in the countryside of Minas Gerais, that the young engineers Cícero and Carlos Hegg saw the opportunity to undertake and, in 1980, our love story with for cheese begins.

The brothers acquired the Franco dairy industry, maker of Mineirão cheese, and soon began the search for quality milk in the region, which is known as one of the most important dairy basins in the country.

"After all, to make a good cheese you need high quality milk"

The first products to be produced at that time were Prato Cheese and Butter. In 1981, the affection for the city that welcomed us led to the change of the name Mineirão to Tirolez. A tribute to the city of Tiros.

The 1990s were marked by several important milestones for Tirolez. Our sales, which were previously concentrated in the Southeast of the country, was spread Brazil. The flavor and quality of the products also gained the hearts of Brazilians, who were able to closely follow the innovations we brought to the market in this decade.

In 1992, we launched the first line of Specialty Cheeses  produced in the country (Gouda, Swiss, Steppe, Emmental Cheese) and, in 1994, we introduced to the Brazilian market the first line light cheese, such as Mozzarella Cheese, Prato Cheese and Minas Light Cheese.

In 1999, we expanded our operations to the foreign market, taking our cheeses to different countries on five continents.

Keeping up with the needs of the market and our consumers, in 2008 we inaugurated the category of Creams in the country, with the launch of Ricotta Cream Tirolez, a product that is a success on the Brazilian table. Two years later, we pioneered in yet another launch, that of Minas Fresh Cream.

In 2015, we launched the Lactose-Free Tirolez line, which reached the market with Mozzarella, Prato, Minas Fresh, Minas and Cottage cheeses. In the next few years, with the addition of Soft Spreadable and Ricotta Cream, it became the most complete line of lactose-free cheeses in Brazil.

The innovations don't stop there, in 2020, we launched Tirolez Stick, a Mozzarella stick practical, tasty, healthy and perfect for any time of the day.
